(The Lottery Is One Of The More Innovative Ways To Tax The Crap Out Of The Ultra Poor)
“The lottery is the best way to tax poor people!” says former Oklahoma SBA Entrepreneur

- The Lottery And Other Innovative Ways To Tax The Ultra-Poor
Yep, it’s true I said it, and I am standing behind it. I sincerely do believe that the lottery system is the most effective and the best way to tax poor people. Think about it Tulsa. Have you been to a local Casino lately? Do you see those beautiful happy people on the commercials and on the billboards running around smiling, high-fiving and winning ridiculous amounts of money? No, you do not. Here is what we see:
We see nicotine and gambling addicted chain smokers sitting up on bar stools charging their credit cards, mortgaging their futures, and losing their butts minute by minute. With each pull on the “magical levers of fun” found on the nearest slot machine, they become poorer and poorer, and they are excited about it. Look around next time you go to Casino and make a mental note of how many smiling faces you will see out of the hundreds of people who are there.
The point is this my friends. Only the poorest among us are being victimized by the Casinos. Only the poorest among us are willing to spend their last dime for a chance to “Win Big!” Ask your nearest QuikTrip employee what % of the lottery ticket purchases are made by the ultra-poor people. Ask them, and my point will be proven, the honorable Governor Brad Henry really did have a stroke of genius with his idea to implement the State Lottery for “Education.” The man is a genius, I would have never thought of such an incredible way to tax the crap out of the poorest Tulsans. How else would we have gotten those final dimes out of their tightly clenched and nicotine stained fingers? Thank you Brad for helping Tulsa tax our poorest people.

**Disclaimers: On a personal note, I think that Mayor Taylor is sincere, passionate and good Tulsa Mayor (all things being considered). I applaud Mayor Taylor for her sincerity of purpose, for her vision and her overall energy. With that being said however, I sincerely believe that under the Clark administration we will make the changes that Tulsa needs…and contrary to popular belief a “vision for tulsa” does not have to involved a tax increase.
