As I have continued gearing up for the 2010 Tulsa Mayoral Election I have been asked with exponentially increasing intensity the same question repeatedly, “Why do you not like Mayor Taylor?” And the answer is simple, “I do like Mayor Taylor, I just do not agree with her all the time.”
From my limited interactions with Mayor Taylor I have found her to be a hard-working passionate woman who possesses a sincerity of purpose that is second to none. I have found Mayor Taylor to be gracious, engaging and real. Kathy Taylor is a very good Tulsa Mayor. I applaud her entrepreneurship initiative. I agree with her dedication to promoting healthy life-styles. I also believe that Mayor Taylor is correct as she repeatedly states that Tulsa can be great, and as I continue running for Mayor of Tulsa, you will never hear me attack her personally because she is a wonderful woman.
In terms of policies, values and our views on life however I differ with Mayor Taylor. I hold to Thomas Jefferson’s belief that “Government is a necessary evil.” I believe as the late great President Ronald Reagan did that the “Scariest phrase ever uttered was, I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” I believe that government’s role should be limited to guaranteeing our rights as Americans to PURSUE ”Life, liberty and happiness.”
The 2010 Clark for Mayor Campaign is all about you, and not about me. The campaign is all about “Yes You Can” not “Yes We Can.” I do not believe that the government should attempt to help every American get through life, they can’t even help themselves. Private schools are better than public schools. Private industries are more innovative than Government regulated ones. The automobile, the plane, the light bulb, video, audio, operating systems, “THE GOOGLE” and countless other inventions have been invented by individual Americans who were passionate about pursuing their passions and dreams, not by government bureaucrats. By the time most local governments have just formed their third investigative exploratory committee private industry will have already come up with a solution, and then a 2.0 version to fix any imperfections to that solution.
Government needs to get the heck out of your way, so that YOU CAN DO IT. Vote “CLARK FOR MAYOR IN 2010″ and vote for “SMALL GOVERNMENT.”
To join the movement call today at (918) 481-2010 and ask for Clay Clark.
